Nigeria’s Inflation Rate January 2026

Key Highlights on Inflation figure in January 2026
  • Headline inflation eased slightly to 15.10 percent year-on-year in January, down from 15.15 percent in December.
  • On a month-on-month basis, inflation rose by a negative 2.88 percent in January, significantly less than 0.54 percent recorded in December 2025.
  • This means prices actually fell by 2.88 percent between December and January.
  • Food inflation fell by 6.02 percent in January, signaling fall in prices in farm produce.
  • Core inflation also fell to 17.72 from 18.63%, showing that Inflation is slowing structurally, not temporarily
