FMDA Market Report – October 2025

This report provides an overview of key global developments shaping economic and market conditions. Global output is projected to expand by 3.2% in 2025, while inflation is expected to ease to 4.2%, reflecting tighter monetary policies and stabilising commodity prices.

The U.S. Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the second time this year to 3.75–4.00%, while central banks in Ghana and Kenya also eased policy to support growth. Meanwhile, OPEC+ approved a modest 137,000 barrels per day output increase, potentially softening crude prices.

In trade developments, President Trump announced new agreements with China—including a tariff reduction to 47% and cooperation on rare earths and soybeans—as well as a U.S.–South Korea tariff cut to 15%, signalling a gradual easing in global trade tensions.

For Nigeria, these global shifts imply lower external borrowing costs, steady FX conditions, and moderate LNG export earnings amid easing global gas prices. Click here for the full report.
